He is most often wearing singlets despite the temperature due to the fact that he likes showing off his muscular physique. As a result he generally finds himself being quite popular among the ladies, which is attention he definitely enjoys. He uses this attention and his drinking habit as a way of trying to forget the past but it never lasts long. He loves to crack jokes at every opportunity and is quite the smooth talker; he is extremely extraverted and loves to talk to other people about superficial conversation. Rarely delving deeper into anything meaningful towards himself, preferring to keep such thoughts to himself. If the enemy tries to get in close he is more of a brawler, using punches and grapples instead of his weapon to by time to get more range. His family was middleclass and he was an only child, he never had a problem making friends due to his extraverted personality, always including himself and others into whatever was cool at the time. He finished he basic primary schooling with little trouble. Except for the fact that he simply got bored with his current path. He forced himself through a few years of high school, trying to find purpose but since it was an all boys school there were no girls to hit on. So the only way he could blow of steam was through the fight club. He enjoyed the fighting; we lost some but mostly won the fights. Everyone revered him because of his fighting prowess but he still could not find purpose within himself. This is when he came upon DWMA, this place gave his ability to fight a purpose. He could find within himself that ability to make the world a better place through his fists. His first year was easy enough, the basics were simple and James already knew how to fight from his years at high school. Yet he did find a Weapon. A pole-arm, which went well with James’ ability to fight close up, and the pole-arm gave him range he needed. She was quite talented as well, boosting James soul to the point where he could muster a decent soul purge He proceeded through the years, acquiring forty or so souls, neither him nor her cared much for making her a Death Scythe but the nature of the missions made getting Kishin-Eggs easy enough. Until one time they were surrounded by quite the horde of them. While they were strong they just couldn’t defend themselves from so many simultaneous attacks and before the fight was out. She had sacrificed her body and her life to protect James. James became stricken with grief after this, stating that he would refuse to get so close to a person that he couldn’t bear to loose them. He was forced to graduate despite his protests that he should repeat due to the death of his weapon. He just wanted an excuse not to move on. As a two-star Meister he works as a tutor for the DWMA, a job he hates but he is continually punishing himself for his lack of ability way back then.
